We support the following piece of legislation. We believe that if fiduciary in all things (FIAT) became the law of the land, much of the dystopian world we find around us would disappear in an historical blink of an eye.

“A Fiduciary standard of obligation is required for all institutions (corporate, non-profit, and governmental) to place the interests of all stakeholders, of truth, of humanity, democracy, and the living planet that sustains us, first above their own self-interest."

Trust is the new currency and the world needs every business to follow the Golden rule so that humanity and the planet can thrive.

George Kinder delivered the most consequential speech of his lifetime, “Toward a Fiduciary Society”

In this landmark address, George presents a bold, yet profoundly simple vision: a world where every institution acts as a fiduciary, placing truth, humanity, democracy, and the planet ahead of profit or power.

“With a simple tweak to our social contract,” George says, “all of our institutions can be more productive, collaborative, energised, happier, and bring an end to dystopia.”

What Is FIAT?

Fiduciary In All Things (FIAT) requires every institution to be trustworthy in everything they do. Toward the planet, toward people, toward democracy and truth. FIAT is essential for a sustainable civilization, and civilization is who we are. It’s time our institutions become models of humanity in all things, never antagonistic to it. It’s time to change the social contract between our institutions and all of us by building the best of humanity into all systems, so that new technologies and old deliver us and Mother Earth to the best of all possible worlds.

What strikes me is that FIAT is similar to so many revolutionary ideas in the past. At first, it is difficult to understand, comprehend, or envision in practice. Over time, people learn and build within the new framework. Then we wonder how we ever existed without it.
— Blair DuQuesnay, Senior Advisor at Ritholtz and author of The Belle Curve

Is FIAT Possible?

  1. Truth in politics is gaining momentum

In the UK, a movement to require lawmakers to tell the truth is advancing in Parliament. MP Luke Myer proposed an amendment to the Public Office (Accountability) Bill (also known as the Hillsborough Law) that would ban MPs from deliberately lying to the public, with penalties for those who mislead.

This builds on earlier efforts by Liz Saville Roberts MP, who introduced the Elected Representatives (Prohibition of Deception) Bill in 2022, co-sponsored by MPs from multiple parties including Labour, the Green Party, SNP, and Liberal Democrats. While these bills have not yet passed, they demonstrate growing cross-party support for holding politicians accountable to the truth—a cornerstone of FIAT values.

2. One state can lead the way

You don't need to change the constitution or pass federal legislation. A single state can require any corporation doing business within its borders to be fiduciary in all things.

California proved this works. By setting strict vehicle emissions standards, California dramatically reduced air pollution across the state. Their waiver authority under the Clean Air Act allowed them to adopt stricter standards than federal law, and any company wanting to sell cars in California had to comply. The result? Cleaner air for all Californians—and 13 other states followed California's lead.

One state with the courage to require fiduciary standards could shift how business is done nationwide.
